MISSED STEPS
contemporary standalone
Before the accident, Kyle knew exactly what to do with Mark.
Beat him at basketball. Tip him out of a boat. Curse at him across a pitch until Mark looked furious enough to be seconds from murder. Kyle’s crush had survived two years by disguising itself as a rivalry, and it was working just fine.
Then a car jumped the kerb.
Now Kyle is back at college with part of his leg gone, his prosthetic hidden under his jeans, and no idea how to be the person everyone remembers. The sports clubs are out. His friends are hurt. His brother is unreachable. And Mark — gorgeous, smug, infuriating Mark — is suddenly standing too close and asking questions Kyle can’t answer.
The first time Mark helps him, Kyle tells him to get lost.
Mark doesn’t.
He drives Kyle home, buys painkillers and ice packs, makes tea in his kitchen, and keeps coming back with careful hands and stubborn patience.
Kyle wanted Mark to notice him.
He just never realised what Mark's attention entailed...
Missed Steps is an 18+ M/M college romance with rivals-to-lovers, hurt/comfort, disability rep, possessive caretaking, explicit heat, and a prickly disaster who has no idea how wanted he is.
